Weight Loss Calories - What You Must Know
When talking about weight loss you can't have an honest conversation without discussing calories. Calories are the building block of our current weight. In a recent study, only 4% of people were heavy due to medical issues. That means that out of 100 overweight people, 4 of them may be eating the correct number of calories. The other 96 are consuming too many calories. I wonder how many of those 96 are telling people that it is hormonal and they can't help it. I laugh as I say that because I know that was my excuse at one point in time. It is easier to believe that my body wants me to be fat rather than know that I am doing it to myself.
Here is what you need to know about weight loss calories. The average female trying to lose weight should eat no more than 1200 calories. A man gets 1700 calories. Some theories are that all calories are created equal. That is accurate in the bottom line of the weight loss equation. If your calories are from a pan of brownies the bottom line is the same as if it was from a nutritious balanced diet.
However, this is not true from the nutrition aspect. If you consume 1000 calories of brownies it is going to taste yummy. However, it isn't going to keep you full very long and your tummy will start revolting from hunger. Not only will you not be full for the day, your cells won't be getting the nutrients they need to function properly.
In fact, your body will be overloaded with sugar making your blood sugar spike. Your pancreas will then have to produce a large amount of insulin which will then make your blood sugar low. The lower blood sugar will make you feel tired and maybe a bit in the clouds.
In contrast, if the 1000 calories came from a balanced diet, your blood sugar would have been stabilized. All of your organs would have been fed the certain vitamins and minerals that make them work. When you consume food that is nutrient rich (healthy) you are feeding your cells what they need and you will feel more energized.
In short, the two things you need to know about calories is:
You need to eat less than you burn to lose weight. You will be healthier and feel better it you eat a lot of food high in nutrients to reach your calorie goal for the day in comparison to eating a small amount of junk food for the same calories.
This doesn't mean that you can't eat the things you love from time to time. You don't have to deprive yourself and make a certain food off limits. There are weight loss programs out there that allow you to have the things you love while blending it with a healthy diet that still allow you to lose weight.
